The paper outer layer gives the pouch its familiar finish, while the inner layers provide the seal and help protect the contents. Oil, moisture and liquids can mark or affect the paper, so choose another pouch material for those products.

Brown kraft has a warm paper look, white kraft gives printed artwork a cleaner base and black kraft creates strong contrast. Choose stand up, flat bottom, windowed or expandable side gusset formats, with features matched to how you'll fill, seal, display and use the pack. Selected compostable kraft pouches are also available.

2 Ways to Print Kraft Pouches

Kraft overprinting adds your artwork to a ready-made stock pouch. It starts at 100 pouches and can print both sides in full colour, including white where required. Artwork stays within a defined area, 5mm clear of every edge and pouch feature, including windows. Delivery is within 10 working days of proof approval. If you're new to pouch printing, our team will explain the artwork guidelines before your proof is prepared.

For full coverage, edge to edge artwork, choose digital pouch printing. The minimum order is 1,000 pouches per size and design, with a normal lead time of 3 to 5 weeks depending on urgency. Bespoke pouch sizes are available for orders over 1,000 units.

What Products Are Kraft Pouches Best Used For?

Kraft pouches are best used for dry products that aren't oily. Common examples include coffee, tea, sweets, dried fruit, nuts, seeds, granola, powders, pet treats, bath salts and dry cosmetic products.

The paper outer layer gives the pouch its natural look, but it also means the product needs to be suitable. Oily, wet or liquid products can mark the paper or affect how the pouch performs.

Can Kraft Pouches Be Used for Oily or Wet Products?

Kraft pouches usually aren't recommended for oily, wet or liquid products. Oil and moisture can be absorbed by the paper layer, which can affect the pouch's appearance and structure.

For products with higher oil or moisture content, a different material may be better. Foil, clear or plastic pouch materials can offer stronger protection, depending on the product.

Can Kraft Pouches Be Custom Printed?

Yes. Kraft pouches can be overprinted from 100 units, making them a good route for smaller runs, product testing, events and launch quantities.

The standard turnaround is 10 days from artwork approval. For more complex print requirements, the best print method and MOQ will depend on the pouch style, design and quantity required.

Should I Choose Brown Kraft or White Kraft Pouches?

Brown kraft gives a more natural paper look and works well for products such as coffee, tea, pet treats, seeds and dried foods. It suits brands that want a warmer, more traditional finish.

White kraft gives a cleaner base for print and can make lighter designs easier to read. It's often a better option when the artwork needs stronger contrast against the pouch.

Should Kraft Pouches Have a Window?

A window is useful when the product looks good and helps the customer understand what's inside. It can work well for products such as sweets, tea, granola, coffee beans, pet treats and dried foods.

A pouch without a window gives more room for print and can be better when the product needs more protection from light. It's also a cleaner option if the product appearance varies between batches.
