Are Grip Seal and Zip Closures the Same Thing?

On Polypouch pouches, grip seal and resealable zip generally describe interlocking strips that you press together by hand. They don’t require a sliding fastener. Check the individual product description, as closure designs can differ across the range.

Will the Pouch Still Reseal After Customers Tear It Open?

Yes, on designs with tear notches above the zip, customers remove the sealed top strip while leaving the resealable closure intact. The clear resealable stand up pouch includes both features. Customers should follow the intended tear line and avoid cutting through the zip.

Can Powder or Crumbs Stop the Zip Closing?

Yes. Fine particles trapped in the interlocking strips can prevent them joining fully, so keep the closure area clear during filling and leave enough room to close it without forcing the contents down. For products such as supplement powders, test repeated scooping and resealing with your actual product.

Does Resealable Mean Suitable for Liquids?

A resealable zip alone doesn’t establish that a pouch is suitable for liquids or won’t leak. You’ll need a material and closure specified for your contents and transport conditions. For products customers pour repeatedly, consider spout pouches with caps.

How Many Times Can Customers Open and Close the Zip?

There isn’t a single opening count that applies to every resealable pouch. Closure performance depends on the design, handling and whether product builds up in the zip. Use free pouch samples to test the number of openings you expect customers to make before finishing the contents.
